About Samoens

The chalet in Winter:
The Grand Massif ski resort:
265 km of pistes and 5 interlinked resorts (Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval)). For many years they were used as a training ground by Antoine Deneriaz, the gold medal winner in the downhill event at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Thanks to its geographical location, the Grand Massif enjoys abundant, regular snowfalls throughout the season, and the area is well known for the quality of the snow in spring. 80% of the slopes are north-facing, allowing the snow to lie for longer and remain in good condition.

The Grand Massif features some exceptional spots:
- The Combe de Gers with its dizzying 800 m drop and untouched snow!
- The blue Cascades piste running for 14 km from the summit at Flaine to Sixt Fer à Cheval
- The Marvel piste that provides beginners with a 5 km run through the heart of a forest over a century old .

Samoens in all seasons:
In the heart of France’s Haute Savoie, at the foot of the Grand Massif ski area, Samoëns is probably one of France’s most picturesque mountain villages. A far cry from the purpose-built ski stations of recent years, Samoëns is a beautiful old farming village steeped in history. It retains an authentic Savoyard charm and a family-friendly, intimate feel.

Historic stone buildings - testament to the village’s history as a centre of stonemasonry - characterise the old part of Samoëns, while new additions tend to be timber-framed, tastefully-designed luxury chalets.

Daily life revolves around a picturesque market place, whose centrepiece is an imposing lime tree, Le Gros Tilleul, planted in 1438. The restaurants, bars and cafés are more typical of a French village than a modern ski resort. The quality of the food and wine on offer is excellent, both in the village and up on the slopes, while the ambience is informal, relaxed and inviting.

The village and Alps around the village offer trekking and bike activities right from the chalet.
