Les Arcs is located high above the Tarentaise valley and is one fo the most popular ski destinations in the Paradiski ski area. The resort is actually made up of 5 villages including Bourg St Maurice, Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000. Bourg St Maurice on the valley floor is connected with a high speed funicular to Arc 1600. The Paradiski area offer a huge amount of varied skiing with a mix for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Choose from forest runs around Villaroger and Peisey Vallandry or high altitude skiing on the Glacier du Varet near Aiguille Rouge. You can take the impressive Vanoise Express cable car to connect into the La Plagne ski area offering even more ski runs and off piste areas.
Les Arcs ski resort is made up of four purpose built modern ski villages. Les Arcs 2000 is the highest of the ski villages situated in a wide bowl just below the Aiguille Rouge peak. This area is as snow sure as you can get with both the Varet and Bellecote glaciers nearby. The villages are reasonably well spread other across the valley with Les Arcs 1800 being the largest village with plenty of bars, restaurant and après ski activities.
Les Arcs and the Paradiski area offers some of the best and most varied skiing in France. The is terrain of all varieties with some of the best groomed runs in the Alps as well as plenty of challenging and long pistes. Regardless of you skiing level you will find something to suit you in Les Arcs. Everything from wide motorway pistes, to steep couloirs and picturesque tree runs is readily available and of course for beginners there are plenty of nursery slopes and easy green and blues. For intermediates skiers and boarders there are lots of challenging blues and reds both in Les Arcs and also if you like to travel distance every day you can link into the La Plagne ski area. Some of the tree runs around Plan Peisey and Vallandry can be very interesting as well as beautiful. For the experts there is lots to look forward to with the best powder usually under the Aiguille Rouge. You can also try your hand at the moguls on Comborciere or feel the burn on the 2000m vertical drop from Aiguille Rouge into Villaroger. There is also a snowpark, half pipe and plenty of free riding areas in Les Arcs so snow boarders have plenty to keep them happy.
Les Arcs offers a wide variety of accommodation for your ski holiday in the French Alps. Each village has a subtle difference in the type of ski accommodation available. Accommodation in Les Arcs 2000 and Arc 1950 is mostly large ski apartment blocks. When choosing an apartment in Les Arcs you should consider that some have modern leisure facilities such as swimming pools and spa centers. Summer in Les Arcs offers lots of activities. Located in the Vanoise park it is very popular in the summer for walking, hiking and mountain biking.
