Nendaz Ski Resort
Nendaz is one of the ski resorts that make up the huge 4 Valleys ski area in Switzerland. It is one of the smaller villages in the 4 Vallees but has quick links to Verbier, La Tzoumaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon giving access to over 400km of groomed pistes and acres of free riding. The resort is one of the smaller villages in the 4 Valleys and consists largely of modern ski apartments and chalets located around a traditional Valais village. The village sits on a sunny plateau 1400m above the Rhone Valley with fabulous views of the Bernese and Vaud Alps. In the winter you can savour the vast ski area of the 4 Valleys with high altitude skiing up to 3330m at the Mont-Fort peak. As well as the extensive downhill skiing options the 4 Valleys area includes cross country trails, over 100km of winter hiking trials and 50km of tracks for snowshoeing. The glacier at Mont Fort even provides skiing doing the summer months.
For beginners Nendaz village itself offers a few gentle green and blue runs with several picturesque tree runs. Intermediates and expert skiers will want to venture further and can enjoy the miles and miles of piste on offer in the 4 Valleys. Whatever terrain you are looking for the 4 Valleys is sure to beat you expectations. From gentle tree lined runs, to wide groomed reds to crazy free riding and vertical drops the ski area has it all. All the villages and ski area are well linked so it is easy to travel from resort to resort. However if you have skied quite a distance be careful that you allow plenty of time to make the return journey home. You wouldn’t want to miss the après ski after all. Nendaz has a reputation as an excellent location for families with a quality ski school and a defined childrens area at the top of the Tracouet lift which offer a safe beginners area for all the family. The town itself has plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes while childcare and crèches are also well catered for.
Nendaz Accommodation
The village is made up of a mixture of modern ski chalet and apartments to rent. The ski accommodation ranges from small studio apartments up to luxury chalets for large groups and families. Depending on your preference you can rent self catering accommodation or fully catered chalets. The high end accommodation includes chalets with hot tubs or swimming pools and ski-in ski-out locations.

Summer Holidays in Nendaz
In the mountains around Nendaz there are over 250km of hiking and walking trails with gentle strolls available as well as serious hikes into the Alps. On very popular walk choice is the routes along the “bisses” . The bisses were irrigation canals dug into the ground or sometimes carved out of the rock. They were used to capture the melting water from the glaciers in order to irrigate the local crops. Nendaz had the largest network of bisses in Europe and now offers almost 100km of walking route alongside 8 of the bisses. This is a beautiful way to enjoy the alpine scenery.
For mountain biking there are over 200km of trails in the 4 Valleys. With both gentle and pro routes available. The lift system operates in summer to transport mountain peaks up the mountain. The Nendaz tourist office offers several official bike routes with the Tour du Mont Fort being one of the most popular. This route links Nendaz, Verbier and La Tzoumaz passing by Mont Fort enroute. The trails has has Easy and Pro version so there is something for all cycling abilities.
There are also several summer festivals with the Alpine Horn festival taking place in July and the Guitar festival usual in late July or early August. Aso in August the Grand Raid mountain bike race passing through Nendaz enrout from Verbier. The race is one of the most gruelling in the world with 4600m altitude difference over a 131km distance.
