About Borovets
Borovets is one of the 3 largest ski resorts in Bulgaria. Borovets resort is at an altitude of 1350 meters and has about 60km of pistes and about 35km of cross country trails. The pistes are surrounded by pine trees making it a very beautiful region. Winter is busy for skiing, snowboarding, and ski doos. There is also a snowpark which is popular for snowboarders and at the bottom of the slopes there is a kindergarten area for little kids to learn to ski.
There are plenty of bars & restaurants in Borovets center for those who like a bit of nightlife.

Skiing & Snowboarding are obviously the most popular winter activities in Borovets. For those who are looking for something a little different you can try sledging, ski doo trips, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or even horse-riding through the snow.
Summer Activities in Borovets

Walking - you can explore the nearby forests and walk to the local villages directly from the complex, enjoying the beautiful nature & environment.
A popular hill walking trial for Borovets visitors is up to Musala Peak (2925m). You can either walk from Borovets center (1300m) or talk the Gondola up to the top of Yastebetz Ski Area (2369m) and start your walk from there. There are extensive areas to explore with stunning scenery.
The chain of "Seven Rila Lakes" is a must see on your holiday in Bulgaria. There are panoramic views and it really is an inspiriting place of beauty. The Seven Rila Lakes are situated at 2100m -2500m can be reached on several trails from Borovets. The lakes are called: Salzata (The Tear), Okoto (The Eye), Babreka (The Kidney), Bliznaka (The Twin), Botanicheskoto or Trilistnika (The Botanical), Ribnoto (The Fish lake), and Dolnoto (The Lower Lake).
Mountain Biking – you can take off on your mountain bike directly from outside the chalet with plenty of routes for you to discover. In the centre of Borovets there are marked mountain biking trails of about 20km with various levels of difficulty suitable for all ages and all levels of experience. One of the chair lifts has a special attachment to allow you bring your bike to the
Horse Riding – why not discover the Rila Mountains on horseback? No experience is necessary as a guide will accompany you from the Borovets Horse Riding School. You can enjoy trekking through the forests & mountains around Borovets or even near Lake Iskar.
Water Sports – have some fun on Bulgaria’s largest inland lake, Lake Iskar, which is only a 30 minute drive from the complex. Spend the day water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, or windsurfing, or simply enjoy a picnic at the water’s edge. There is a well run company based at the lake which can look after all your needs for equipment hire and tuition.
Relaxation – on those hot summer days in July & August you might want some time to relax, reading, sunbathing or unwinding in the outdoor Jacuzzi enjoying the breathtaking views. If you want to go further a field there are a selection of outdoor pools to choose from, 3 pools in Belchin Banya, one pool in Samokov, and another one in Belovo.
Fishing - Bulgaria’s lakes and rivers offer excellent trout fishing, along with pike, carp and bream. From Borovets you don’t have to travel far for some great fishing. You can choose from the fast running Cerni Iskar and Maritsa rivers or for calmer waters why not enjoy a day in a boat in the centre of the Lake Iskar. There are also a number of well stocked pools just on the outskirts of Samokov. We can put you in contact with local fishermen to help you find exactly what you are looking for.Fishing during the month of May is forbidden for all sweet water fish due to spawning. Salmon fishing in the mountains from October to December is also banned.
Jeep Safari –experience the adventure of exploring the area in 4x4 jeeps bringing you to places you simply cannot reach by car.
Golf – Borovets has 2 golf courses in the vicinity. Air Sofia Club, is located on the outskirts of Ihtiman, a small town just 30 minutes from Borovets. The course has matured nicely over the last few years and we are confident that you will find an enjoyable challenge on the 18 hole, par 71 course.
Slighty further away is the St. Sofia Golf course in Ravno Pole. This course is located on the edge of Sofia, the capital city, and is just over an hour from Borovets. Again this is an 18 hole, par 71 course.
Non-members are welcome to play on both courses and both clubs also have qualified training academies.
Excursions

Rila Monastery - definitely worth a visit to see this magnificent 10th century Orthodox monastery which is still inhabited today by monks. The buildings, courtyard and church are impressive and located in a very serene place about 100km south-west of Borovets.
Tsari Mali Grad – an impressive restored IV-V century fort and church located on a hilltop near Belchin village, about 25km from Borovets.
Excustions can be arranged to Sofia City & Plovdiv’s Ancient City, Koprivshtitsa Museum Town.
