About St Anton
The Arlberg ski area is world renowned and rightly included in the top 5 resorts in the world for snowfall and terrain. Its vast ski area comprises St Anton, St Christophe, Stuben, Zurs and Lech.
St. Anton is a bustling, cosmopolitan resort which retains its traditional alpine charm. The pedestrian town centre has a multitude of lively bars and excellent restaurants. There are plenty of activies on and off the pistes for everyone.
Of course St Anton is most popular as a ski destination and is a favourite of many skier and snowboarders. However, after the skiing season finishes, St Anton becomes a glorious, sunny summer destination. Its mountains, streams, rivers, waterfalls and lakes create a wonderful environment for a varied range of sports and activities: from half marathons and marathons to music and film festivals, from soccer and volleyball tournaments, cycling tours and races to traditional fetes such as the returning of the cattle.
Fun awaits the whole family at the high ropes course in Verwall. The Arlberg region is also world famous for climbers of all abilities. Via ferrate is one of the most demanding Alpine tours but the Schnann Gorge and Climbing Practice Course offer climbing for all levels.
The superb network of 300km of marked hiking trails allows you to explore the area. The big ski lifts are open during the summer giving easy access to the whole mountain. Watch marmots on the Gampen. Sit by the lakes above St.Christoph. Picnic by the children's play area in Verwall or follow the path across the Rendl.
St Anton has around 200km of scenic and diverse routes that are well marked and bikes can be hired. There are trails for all abilities, from easy going rides to demanding tours. Or cycle to Landeck, which is downhill and take the train back.
Kayaking and rafting offer great excitement. From calm waters of the lakes to the running rapids on one of the local rivers, various companies organise guided trips both for beginners and the more experienced. Canyoning is another cool way to explore the valleys. Fully kitted out in wet suits and helmets, you hike through the canyon and explore the rivers, climbing, jumping and sliding down waterfalls.
