Located at an altitude of 1650m, Les Deux Alpes provides access to an extensive ski area that reaches up to 3600m, making it Europe's highest ski area and ensuring reliable snow throughout the season. Sometimes known as Les 2 Alpes the resort offers over 220km of varied ski terrain, including Europe's largest skiable glacier, making it a great ski holiday choice for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
The resort itself stretches out for about 2km between the main areas of Alpe de Venosc and Alpe de Mont-de-Lans. For complete beginners, on their first ski holiday, there are plenty of very easy nursery and green slopes close to the village. Unlike most resorts, Les Deux Alpes also offers easy blue and red runs at higher altitudes close the resort peak, making it ideal for both beginners and intermediates. In terms of accommodation there is a good selection of chalets, apartments and hotels. The resort boasts a lively après-ski atmosphere with numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants lining the main street.

Les Crêtes: Situated at 2100m, Les Crêtes serves as the ideal starting point for beginners eager to take their first turns on the snow. This gentle area features a range of gentle green and blue runs, providing newcomers with a safe and supportive environment to practice their technique. Skiers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks as they navigate the beginner-friendly terrain. The Les Cretes area, is easily accessed from the resort using the Village 1800 chair lift, Belle Etoile lift and Le Diable lift. From Les Crêtes, you can ski down along the green Demoiselles run, or along the Jandri blue run depending on our brave your feel.
Vallée Blanche: For those looking to progress beyond the basics, Vallée Blanche offers a slightly more challenging experience while still catering to beginners. This area features a mix of green and blue runs and also one easy red run. This area allows skiers to gradually increase their confidence and ability. Access is via the Cote and Valle Blanche lifts and also the Super Venosc gondola.

Here, skiers can carve their way down a mix of blue and red pistes, weaving through picturesque forests and open slopes. With its wide runs and well-groomed terrain, La Fée Valley provides the perfect playground for intermediate skiers looking for excitement and adventure. The 8-seater Pierre Grosse gondola links the La Fée area to the glacier level at 3,175m
Glacier du Mont de Lans (3400m) : For intermediate skiers seeking a high-altitude adventure, Glacier du Mont de Lans offers unparalleled views and exhilarating terrain. Accessed via the Jandri Express gondola, this expansive glacier boasts a variety of blue and red pistes, along with thrilling off-piste opportunities for those looking to explore beyond the groomed runs. With its wide-open slopes and breathtaking vistas, Glacier du Mont de Lans promises an unforgettable skiing experience for intermediate skiers. From the top of the glacier you can ski 16km back to the resort on a selection of blue pistes.
Les Deux Alpes is not the most extreme resort but still offers some challenging pistes and adrenaline-pumping off-piste terrain. From steep couloirs to untouched powder fields, the resort's advanced areas provide an opportunity to push the boundaries and test your skills in some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps.
Toura – Snowpark: After some freestyle action at 2,600m then head to Toura with pipes and rails for all levels.
Off-Piste Zones: Within the boundaries of Les Deux Alpes, advanced skiers can explore a variety of off-piste zones that offer a taste of backcountry adventure without leaving the resort. From the challenging terrain of the Bellecombes sector to the powder-filled bowls of the Glacier du Mont de Lans, these off-piste areas provide an opportunity to escape the crowds and experience the thrill of untouched snow. Whether you're tackling the infamous La Fée Noire or conquering the moguls of Les Crêtes, Les Deux Alpes' black pistes offer a thrilling experience for advanced skiers looking to push their limits.
La Grave extreme: La Grave is a small ski resort locate north east of Les Deux Alpes. It is a mecca for off piste skiers and some consider it to have some off the best free ride terrain in Europe. At times during the season La Grave can be accessed from Les Deux Alpes. This area is for advancer and expert skiers only and contains some very dangerous terrain. Skiers and boarder accessing this area should always bring a qualified local guide and avalanche protection equipment.
Snow shoeing – several groomed and safe routes are available.
Ice Skating - there is an open-air skating rink located on the snow front, close to the start of the Alpette ski lift
Night Skiing – ski in the evening under floodlights
Ski Show – usually on Thursdays the ski instructor put on a ski display with torchlight descent and fireworks. The kids will love it.
Ice Cave - Explore the fascinating world of ice caves beneath the glacier at 3,400m altitude.
Yoga on the mountain – unwind in the most spectacular surroundings.
Helicopter rides – fly over the beautiful alpine peaks of Les Deux Alpes, the Oisans and Ecrins massifs

Grenoble is the closest airport to Les Deux Alpes and is around an hour and a half away. Chambery and Lyons airports are slightly further and are around a 2 hour drive or transfer.

For slightly bigger kids who are already comfortable on their skis there is a wide range of easy blues to keep them busy.

In the beginner’s area, right beside the village there are 5 ski lifts which are totally free of charge. This is perfect for kids who are just starting out as it saves you the cost of a ski pass for days when they might only do a few runs.
